When it comes to achieving success in the ultra competitive music business, Janie Fricke contends self-confidence is absolutely vital.
"You have to be confident going into this business," explains Fricke, describing her early years in the industry. "If you want to go to Nashville and you want to become a studio singer, a publicist, producer, or anything else you want to do, you have to go in with confidence and know how. You get that in your younger years and constantly grow and learn."
Fricke, who won the Country Music Association's Female Vocalist of the Year award in 1982 and 1983, had plenty of humbling experiences starting out that she used to prepare her for her shot out on her own.
